On 23-24 April 2008, RIHTOP’s delegation consisting of Boris N. Filatov, Director, Marina N. Ignatenko, Head of International Projects Departments, and Nikolai G. Britanov, Head of Occupational Health Laboratory, participated in Technical Workshop on Restoration and Decontamination of Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Terrorist Actions in Ottawa,
Canada. The implementation of the partner project on decontamination standards development was discussed within the framework of the workshop.

The Institute's delegation that involved B.N. Filatov, Director, M.N. Ignatenko, head of International Projects Office and N.G. Britanov, head of Hygiene Laboratory attended the Technical Workshop on Restoration and Decontamination of Chemical, Biological and Radiological Terrorist Actions. The workshop was held in Ottawa, Canada from 20 to 26 October 2007. The outcome of the workshop was most encouraging for its participants as appropriate decisions on the actions to be needed for the implementation of a joint project concerning decontamination standards were made, as well as the participation conditions were refined, including the tasks the both sides set themselves.
The Institute's delegation consisting of B.N. Filatov, Director, M.N. Ignatenko,
Head of International Projects Department, I.A. Kovaleva, a research associate of
the same Department, and N.G. Britanov, Head of Laboratory of Hygiene, took part
in Technical
Workshop on Restoration and Decontamination of Chemical, Biological, and Radiological
Terrorist Action which was held in Ottawa, Canada, from 10 to 12 January 2006. The outcome of the meeting was most encouraging for the decisions
made on further actions that were essential to the implementation of a joint project
on decontamination standards in the framework of ISTC Program, with refining the
participation and problem scenarios the both sides set themselves.
B.N. Filatov, Director, participated in the working group of VII
IWG meeting on
"Cooperation on Bio-Initiatives and the NIS: Toward a True Partnership" which was
held in Como-town, Italy, from 28 to 29 September 2006.
The Russian National Exhibition that was held in Peking, China, from 7 to 14 November
2006, was the next business trip undertaken by B.N. Filatov who together with other
experts and observers were invited to participate.
Another trip to Ottawa was made by RIHTOP director, B.N. Filatov, together with
his interpreter-consultant, V.A. Cherenov, for participation in the Second Yearly
Seminar on
CRTI ( Initiative on Counteraction to Terrorism). The aim of the Seminar
dealt with topics that included the various aspects of technologies to be developed
for liquidation of outcomes of chemical and biological terrorism. The Seminar was
organized and held by Canadian Environment Protection Agency.
In June 2005, there was a trip to Washington (USA) made by head of Laboratory of
Ecological Toxicology, Maslennikov A.A., and interpreter-consultant, V.A. Chernov,
in order to take part in the meeting of the NAC/AEGL Committee in accordance with
the workplan of ISTC project No. 2733 that is presently under implementation in
RIHTOP.

reviewer-interpreter.
In December 2003, the group visited USA. The aim was to submit proposals on new
joint projects for consideration by the Civilian Research and Development Foundation
(CRDF). Meetings with potential collaborators and partners in appropriate organizations
were arranged.

In April 2004, the other trip to USA was made in the framework of ISTC Project No
2733. During the trip, the fellows of the RIHTOP took part in a proceeding of the
Committee on Development of Acute Exposure Control Levels at the Environmental Protection
Agency, USA (EPA NAC/AEGL Committee). They visited a currriculum on Good Laboratory
Practice that was conducted within the frame of the Society for Quality
Assurance (SQA) Annual Conference. Discussion of joint workplans took place at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, which is a participating organization of ISTC Project No 2733.

A scheduled trip (ICST Project No 2733) to the Netherlands was made in June 2004
in order to take part in the work of the EPA NAG/AEGL Committee proceeding and visit
the National Institute of Health and Environment
(RIVM).

research associate of the Laboratory of Experimental Toxicology.
In September 2004, the group attended the Training Seminar on Good Laboratory Practice
that was held in Ireland.

head of the Laboratory of Ecological Toxicology
The group attended a scheduled meeting of the NAC/AEGL Committee that took place
in December 2004. Under ISTC Project No 2733, a report on development of demethylamine
AEGL was made and the first version of information shell for AELG database was demonstrated.
Several working meetings to discuss potential new projects at different levels of
responsibility were organized by US EPA, National Medical Library and CRDF.
