Information storage and retreival program
There is a vast range of naturally occurring toxic chemicals such as those found
in poisonous plants and mushrooms to which individuals and populations are exposed.
So, thousands of deaths have occurred during poisoning incidents from micromecetes
present on seeds from weeds growing with grain crops. It is not known precisely
how many people world over suffer and die every year through poisons of vegetable
origin, for example, from poisonous mushrooms, but they can be numbered in hundreds
of thousands.
What is the PhytoTox1 Program?
Each toxicological center or emergency hospital needs to establish an effective
means of responding to poisoning cases and to have adequate poison control facilities.
The PhytoTox1 comes to the toxicologist's aid. It is a poisons information database
management software which provides information on poisonous plants and toxins they
produce; mechanisms of toxin action and first aid measures. It includes information
on more than 1400 plants.
The PhytoTox1 lets you look up toxicology data by:
- plant name,including:
- poisonous higher plants;
- acquatic weeds;
- micromecetes;
- pathogenic macromecetes (poisonous mushrooms); and
- symptoms and syndromes
Besides, the PhytoTox1 includes the package of drawings of some pathogenic mushrooms
(macromecetes) and of their edible "twins", as well as important features to differentiate
between them.
