Canada. From April 27 to May 4, 2009, RIHTOP’s delegation consisting of Boris N. Filatov, Director, Valentina V. Klauchek, Deputy Director for Science, Marina N. Ignatenko, Head of International Projects Department, Nikolay G. Britanov, Head of Occupational Health Laboratory, Valentin Y. Zhukov, Head of Occupational Toxicology Laboratory, and Lyudmila P. Tochilkina, Head of Drug Safety Laboratory, participated in the Technical Workshop on Restoration and Decontamination of Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Terrorist Actions held in Ottawa, Canada. Two reports were presented at the Workshop – “The experimental research to substantiate decontamination standards” and “RVU as potential decontamination standards”. The reports had been prepared on the basis of the ISTC Project No. 3316 results.

Sweden. On 13 – 18 June 2009, RIHTOP’s delegation consisting of Igor E. Pildus, Head of Chemistry Department, and Yelena P. Vekhter, Deputy Head of Chemistry Department, participated in the 12th International Conference on Chemicals and the Environment held in Stockholm. RIHTOP’s researchers submitted two poster presentations at the Conference - “Determination of Vx in the atmospheric air in form of the fluoridate derivate by the thermal desorption/gas chromatography with flame photometric detection” and “Studying sarin, soman and sulfur mustard stability in drinking water”. The presentations had been prepared in accordance with the results of ISTC Projects No. 3320 and No. 3642.

USA. On 14 – 22 August 2009, Marina N. Ignatenko, Head of International Projects Department, participated in the Community Involvement Training Conference held by the US Environmental Protection Agency.

Austria. On 6 – 10 September 2009, E. Pildus, Head of Chemistry Department, and Yelena P. Vekhter, Deputy Head of Chemistry Department, participated in the International Conference EUROANALYSIS 2009 held in Innsbruck. A poster presentation on “Development of methodology for determination of sarin and soman in the atmospheric air of populated areas by the thermal desorption/gas chromatography with flame photometric detection” prepared on the basis of the ISTC Project No. 3320 results was submitted at the Conference.

On 22-25 September 2008, RIHTOP’s delegation consisting of Boris N. Filatov, Director, Marina N. Ignatenko, Head of International Projects Department, Andrei V. Gorshenin, Head of Immunology Laboratory, and Irina V. Klimova, Junior researcher, participated in the 11th Seminar of ISTC Scientific Advisory Committee “New Trends in Chemical Toxicology”, Moscow.
On 7-10 September 2008, Boris N. Filatov, Director, Valentina V. Klauchek, Deputy Director for Science, and Marina N. Ignatenko, Head of International Projects Department, participated in the 2nd Interinational Conference on Nanotoxicology “NANOTOX2008” held at ETH Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland.
On 16-20 September 2008, Elena P. Vekhter, Deputy Head of Chemistry Department, participated in the 2nd EuCheMS Chemistry Congress held at Turin, Italy. Elena P. Vekhter submitted a poster presentation on Studying of soman, sarin, and sulfur mustard stability in drinking water in the presences of oxidants and without them based on the results of the ISTC Project #3642.

2007

B.N. Filatov, Director of the RHTOP, and M.N. Ignatenko, Head of International Projects Office, attended the 46-th Annual Meeting of the Society of Toxicology, USA that was held from 23 to 31 March 2007. The International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) organized the trip for the representatives of research institutes from Russia and the Union of Independent States. The aim of the meeting was to present the possibility for the participants of establishing contacts and strengthening scientific links in order to implement joint projects in toxicology.
The 10th International Chemical Weapons Demilitarization Conference, CWD 2007, was held in Belgium, from 14 to 19 May 2007. The delegation members from the RIHTOP were B.N.Filatov, Director, V.V. Klauchek, Deputy Director, and M.N. Ignatenko, Head of International Projects Office. .
Two discussion papers were presented:
- Problems of building decontamination at dismantling of former CW production facilities (speaker - B.N. Filatov);
- Decision-making support system at accidents within premises of CW destruction facilities (speaker - V.V. Klauchek).
T.A. Charova, principal research associate of the RIHTOP's Clinical Department, attended the International Workshop on Environment Mercury Pollution (air emission, restoration of grounds and health effects) that was held in Kazakhstan, from 28 May to 1 June 2007. The report on "Special diagnosis and expertise of health outcomes from exposure to mercury" was presented at the workshop..

The 23-th Technical Seminar on Chemical Spills (TSOCS), 5-10 June 2006, organized
in the framework of Arctic and Marine OilSpill Program, AMOP (Canada) was attended
by the Institute's delegation consisting of B.N. Filatov, Director, M.N. Ignatenko,
Head of International Projects Department, and N.G. Britanov, Head of Laboratory
of Hygiene.
Two reports were delivered in the meeting:
- On criteria of building decontamination in liquidation of consequences from chemical
terrorist acts (Britanov N.G.).
- - The concept of Acute Exposure Guide Levels (AEGL) and emergency planning: the
Russian participation experience in the Committee's activities for the development
of acute exposure guide levels relating to dangerous chemical substances (Ignatenko
M.N.).

Another Institute's delegation that consisted of T.A.Charova, Deputy Head of Clinical
Department, and L.P. Ustinovich, senior research associate of the same department,
took part in the International Symposium on Chemical,
Biological, Nuclear and Radiological Threats: A Safety and Security Challenge, NBC 2006) that was held in Tampera, Finland
from 18 to 22 June 2006. |

Two symposium papers were represented:
- Correction of immunodeficient conditions at a delayed period following acute exposure
to sarin or soman (L.P. Ustinovich).
- Clinical types of delayed neuropsychopathological outcomes from acute poisoning
by sarin or soman (T.A. Charova).
In addition, the fellows of RIHTOP visited the exhibition of equipment available
for protection against chemical and biological weapons.

From 28 October to 7 November 2005, the RIHTOP delegation that involved B.N. Filatov,
Director, M.N. Ignatenko, head of International Projects department, and I.E Pildus,
head of Chemistry department took part in the work of yearly conference that was
held at American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE2005), Cincinnati, USA. The
business trip was organized by ISTC for the representatives of Russian, Kazakh and
Ukrainian research institutes with the aim to enlarge contacts of between scientists
of SNG countries and representatives of the west scientific community and industry.

From 8 to 12 November 2005, the RIHTOP delegation that involved B.N. Filatov, Director,
M.N. Ignatenko, head of International Projects department, and I.E. Pildus, head
of Chemistry department took part in the work of the Conference on chemical sciences.
The Conference was organized by Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ottawa, Canada.
The purpose was to provide introductions between representatives of Russian and
Canadian scientific and research establishments, and to discuss advanced directions
of joint investigations within the framework of ISTC projects.

The scientific symposium on counterterrorism problems was held in Dubrovnic (Croatia)
in September 2003. The conference was attended by B.N. Filatov, Director of the
RIHTOP, E.B. Bulanova, leading research associate of the Laboratory of Information
Technologies, and V.A. Chernov, reviewer-interpreter. Two reports entitled "Information
technologies to mitigate consequences from emergency situations caused by spreading
of dangerous chemical substances" and "Biologically active substances as antidotes
at chemical agents mass affection" were read. Additionally, a computer program that
had been developed in the frame of Project No 2345 on "Differential diagnosis of
acute poisonings from organophosphorus compounds" was presented.
