FSUE "RIHTOP" FMBA Russia 

The Research Institute of Hygiene, Toxicology and Occupational Pathology (RIHTOP) is ranked among research establishments that are supervised by Federal Directorate of Medical, Biological and Extreme Problems at Russian Ministry of Health (Presidential Decree No. 1304 of 11 October 2004).

Activities of the RIHTOP:

  • scientific activity in conformity with the RIHTOP objectives;
  • business work;
  • external economic activity that is not in conflict with character of the Institute activities.

    On March 29-30, 2012

    

    XI All-Russia Conference of Hygienists and Health Inspectors “Results and Prospects of Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare Assurance among the Population of the Russian Federation” was hold at Russian Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation on March 29-30, 2012 in Moscow.
     More than 800 delegates and guests including leading scientists in the area of hygiene and sanitary attended the Conference. RIHTOP was represented by its director Boris N. Filatov, deputy scientific director Valentina V. Klauchek and head of the Laboratory of Occupational Health Nikolay G. Britanov.
     Wide range of scientific and practical issues including varying aspects of sanitary-epidemiological control establishing and assuring of sanitary-epidemiological welfare among the population was discussed at the Conference.


    On February 17, 2012

    

    Director of the Institute Boris N. Filatov, deputy director Valentina V. Klauchek, heads of laboratories Lyudmila P. Tochilkina and Nikolay G. Britanov took participation in All-Russia Symposium devoted to the 50th anniversary of establishment of FSUE “RIHOPHE“ of FMBA Russia “Medical-Biological Aspects of Chemical Safety Ensuring in the Russian Federation”. The Symposium was held on February 17, 2012 in Saint-Petersburg.
     The paper of Boris N. Filatov “Regulatory-Procedural Framework of Sanitary-Hygienic Ensuring of Safety of Destruction Process and Following Conversion of Chemical Weapons Storage and Destruction Facilities” was heard and discussed at plenary session “Problems and Prospects of Chemical Safety Ensuring”. The materials of the Symposium were represented as poster presentations and published as proceedings of the Symposium. Wide range of questions was considered and problems of chemical safety in the Russian Federation were discussed during the symposium.

    An interview called “New Technologies Could Destroy Life on the Planet” with Boris N. Filatov, RIHTOP Director, was published in AiF-Nizhneye Povolzhye, a regional weekly, No. 45, 09 November 2011. The interview is concerned with the necessity of comprehensive safety substantiation for the effects of nanomaterials manufacturing in terms of human health, which should be conducted before the large-scale implementation of nanotechnologies and use of nanomaterials.     The 4th regular FMBA Russia Scientific and Engineering Council Task Committee on “Toxicology, Hygiene, Occupational Pathology, Indication, and Decontamination When Handling Highly Toxic Chemicals” was held in RIHTOP on September 15, 2011. The agenda included the following points: the major R&D results obtained over a period of 2009-2011 in the framework of the Federal Target Program on “National System of Chemical and Biological Safety of the Russian Federation” (2009-2013); the long-term research plans 2012-2014.
    Some reports were read out. The speakers included the following representatives of the Task Committee member organizations: Andrey S. Radilov, Deputy Director for Science, FSUE RIHOPHE; Valentina V. Klauchek, Deputy Director for Science, FSUE RIHTOP; Sergey P. Rybalkin, Deputy Director for Science, State Federal Enterprise for Science


    On September 13-14, 2011

    

    The Research and Practice Conference “Chemical Safety in Russia: Medical and Environmental and Hygienic Aspects” was articulated on the discussion of topical scientific issues. As a result, the Book of Abstracts “Chemical Safety in Russia: Medical and Environmental and Hygienic Aspects” of the Conference dedicated to the RIHTOP FMBA Russia’s 40th Anniversary was published.

    The following events dedicated to the RIHTOP’s 40th Anniversary were held in a festive atmosphere, on 13-14 September 2011: the Solemn Meeting and the Research and Practice Conference. Representatives from various scientific organizations took part in both of these events. Valery I. Varenik, Head of Scientific Research Management Department, FMBA Russia; Gennady G. Yerofeyev, Deputy Head of Scientific Research Management Department, FMBA Russia; Alexander V. Lezhenin, Head of Control and Supervision over Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare Department, FMBA Russia; executives and staff members of FMBA Russia scientific institutions; Institute of Toxicology representatives as well as those from Research Centre for Toxicology and Hygienic Regulation of Biopreparations, Research Institute of Hygiene, Occupational Pathology, and Human Ecology, Technical Research Center of Radiation-Chemical Safety, Research Institute of Industrial and Naval Medicine, Toxicological Research and Practice Center, Volgograd Medical Center; and both RIHTOP veterans and staff members were among the guests of the celebration.
     Boris N. Filatov, RIHTOP Director, Doctor of Medical Science, Professor, opened the Solemn Meeting and addressed the guests with words of welcome. The representatives of FMBA Russia, Volgograd Regional Duma, Volgograd Region Main Bureau of Medical and Social Examination, Volgograd Regional Addiction Hospital, and many others congratulated RIHTOP on its anniversary. The honored guests and long-time partners of RIHTOP as well as the representatives of the Volgograd press expressed their warmest congratulations on such a remarkable date in RIHTOP’s life and wished new successes and achievements.
     58 RIHTOP’s staff members were presented with awards and certificates of merit from different departments and agencies. Six RIHTOP’s staff members were honored with the A.I. Burnazyan Award Pin; three RIHTOP’s staff members were awarded with the Certificates of Merit by the Minister of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation; six Certificates of Merit and 14 Honorary Mentions by the Head of FMBA Russia; the Volgograd Regional Duma’s Certificates of Merit and Letters of Gratitude; the RIHTOP’s Certificates of Merit and Honorary Mentions by the RIHTOP’s Director were presented to some of the other RIHTOP’s officers. All staff members received cash awards.
